Evaluation of several steroid seroflocculants.

27 normal, 173 cancer, and 39 noncancen, diseased sena. Certain types (e.g., lung cancer) gave a higher than 90 per cent positive flocculation with some steroids, but interference by other diseases was severe (up to 74 per cent for tuberculosis). A second series of tests with compounds related to 3,3-bisethylthio-5a-androstan-17@-yl acetate substantially confirmed the first series. The floc was isolated and identified as a mixture of the flocculant, cholesterol, and a N-containing component.
